jennyTestimonial: Dr. Katahdin has been fantastic about helping me navigate supplements and
medications. It is so hard to know the difference between one pill and another, and MDs often don't know about nutritional supplements that areso crucial for performance and health.

Bill Davis

TESTIMONIAL: I started triathlon training at the age of 52 as a means of staying healthy and maintaining my fitness. Within my first year I increased from Sprint and Olympic distances to the Half Ironman distance.

I train 6 days a week and have battled chronic hamstring tightness and muscle pulls ever since I started. Recently I was faced with a 6 week schedule to prepare for the my first Half Ironman race and I had a strain in my right hamstring muscle. My training plan required me to build up to a 13.1 mile run and this was going to be impossible if I couldn't get my hamstring problem taken care of. On the day that I was scheduled to run my 13.1 mile training activity I went to see Dr. Katahdin and with one treatment of acupuncture I was able to complete my long run without any strain. I completed my Half Ironman injury free and I continue to train without injury.

Mari

mari

BIO: Mari is a motivated athlete and enjoys the personal challenge of pushing her body to the limit. She is an accomplished marathoner and triathlete who regularly finishes in the top of her division. Her marathon PR is 3:25:54 and Ironman 70.3 PR is 5:44:39.

TESTIMONIAL: It wasn’t until I became nauseated during the Boston marathon and posted my worst time ever that I thought about seeing a nutritionist. It wasn’t the first time I became nauseated during a race, so it was important to find out why. I heard about Dr. Evie Katahdin from my training group and scheduled an appointment. After a consultation with Dr. Evie and extensive blood tests I found that I was lacking some important nutrients and amino acids that were affecting my performance. I was prescribed a balanced amino supplement that I’ve been taking for the past 18 months or so. I haven’t become nauseated during a race since that fateful Boston marathon. I’ve set a new PR at the last two Ironman 70.3 races. Thanks so much for your help.

BIO: Robert Thompson is a marathoner and surfer in Orange County. He has also done extensive golfing and road cycling, along with tennis, racquetball and baseball.

TESTIMONIAL: I hurt my shoulder about 9 months ago. The pain of just lifting or reaching out with my arm could be excruciating at times. I went to physical therapy for a couple of months with very limited results. My orthopedist did an MRI showing a full and a partial rotator cuff tear. The doctor informed me that surgery was the only way to fix the tears. I put the surgery off for several more months and before I scheduled a surgery date I decided to see Dr. Katahdin for an unrelated running injury. While working on my leg we decided to try treating my shoulder with Biopuncture and electro-acupuncture. I thought, it couldn't hurt. The results so far, and in a very short time, have been amazing! I could not sleep on my left side before the treatments without the pain waking me up at night. That has gone away. My range of motion has increased considerably and I am seeing continued progress. I am hopeful I won't need to have surgery after all.

Katie McEwen

katie

BIO: Katie McEwen is an Orange County native, growing up in Newport Beach and now residing in Irvine. In her yourth she competed in a variety of sports but especially loved soccer and swimming. She went on to play soccer at Stanford University.

Following college, she took a break from competitive
athletics to start a teaching career and to start a family. These last few years, she has focused on triathlons. To prepare for her 2009 race season, she trained with Tri La Vie, a triathlon team for women. She also swims and competes for Nova Masters in Irvine.

TESTIMONIAL: My goal this year was to complete my first-ever half-Ironman triathlon. Dr. Kathadin helped me create a nutritional plan to support my training and my race. At Dr. Kathadin's suggestion, I did a blood test and discovered that I had many major nutritional deficiencies that were likely affecting my performance - and I thought I was just tired all the time because I have three small children! I was also beginning to develop symptoms of shin splints as my running mileage increased prior to my race; however, after some acupuncture treatments at Dr. Kathadin's office, these symptoms disappeared and I was able to complete all of my training without interruption. Dr. Kathadin's nutritional advice and acupuncture led me to results I never imagined possible at the beginning of the season: an age-group win in my first half Ironman, as well as a qualifying slot on Team USA to compete in the International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Championships for sprint distance held in Australia.
